Hi, I am Keri Strachan. I’d love to get to know you better, and guide you towards a healthier, but sustainable lifestyle that is best for you. I am a registered dietitian with a private practice in Howick, KZN Midlands, but since COVID I also offer online consultations, should you be out of my area, or for your convenience.

I completed my BSc in Dietetics at UKZN in 1997, followed by a Masters qualification in Nutrition at Stellenbosch in 2009. In recent years I have completed several Nutrition Network courses training me on the application of therapeutic carbohydrate restriction, which has revolutionized how I am able to help clients with diabetes and other metabolic diseases. I have recently completed the first two modules of the Certificate for Integrated Sports Nutrition, with two further electives to still do in 2024, and I am currently participating in the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, 1 year advocate training on an integrated oncology approach, hosted by Dr Nasha Winters.

So, as well as Sports Nutrition which remains a large focus of mine, I have accumulated expertise in the field of therapeutic carbohydrate restriction in managing chronic disease (especially diabetes) over the past 10 years, and more recently I am delighted to be able to add oncology nutrition to my toolbox.

I see a broad range of clients in my practice, including families, athletes, teenagers, and the elderly, addressing many nutritional issues such as diabetes, PCOS, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, impaired renal function, diverticulitis, reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass, as well as weight management.

I am a busy mother of three children (ranging from primary school to highschool), and I definitely understand the challenge we face in providing healthy meals, within a budget, that don’t get boring for the family. It is vital that the nutrition plan fits into the needs of the whole family without necessitating more than one meal for the family.
